Product Overview
Known as the father of the modern poster, Jules Chéret (1836 – 1932) was a French painter and lithographer. He worked on everything from theater to advertising. In this charming poster for a musical pantomime at the Folies-Bergere, Cheret shows actress Rene Maizeroy in Dutch costume, complete with wooden shoes, cavorting alongside the sea. Her companion, lightly sketched Pierrot, holds up the mirror mentioned in the entertainment's title. There is a border around the image. The image size is correct. Many sizes available.
